Reservation

There are various ways to reserve a Hertz commercial vehicle: Via the Internet (hertzvans.ch), by phone or directly from your Hertz agency.

You can modify and cancel reservations using the reservation method phone (0848 443 789) or agency. Please note that fees may apply.

Yes! If you need a vehicle for longer than 30 days, please contact our sales team directly. We would be happy to put together an offer for you.

We generally recommend that you reserve your Hertz commercial vehicle as early as possible so that we can meet your requirements regarding model type, etc. as closely as possible.

Reservations are generally possible around the clock until shortly before the desired time of rental. But please always plan enough time for Hertz to reserve the right commercial vehicle for you. Hertz will charge fees in the event of a delayed return (more than 29 minutes).

You can reserve vehicle categories, but not specific models.

Before your trip

No, unfortunately we cannot allow you to park your own vehicle in Hertz's car park during a reservation.

You are required to report damage immediately. Therefore, please directly address a Hertz employee on site or contact us by calling 0848 443 789.

For your own safety, please take the following steps:

  • Before departing, check the vehicle for any damage.
  • Make any necessary adjustments before starting the vehicle: Move the seat and steering wheel as required, adjust the rear and side mirrors for the best view, find your preferred radio station and temperature, buckle your seatbelt, etc.
  • Turn the lights on. By law, you must drive with your lights on at all times in Switzerland.
  • In winter, make sure that you can see clearly through all windows. Turn your full attention to road traffic at the latest when setting off.

During your trip

No, all Hertz vehicles are non-smoking. Failure to heed this regulation may result in penalties being charged for special cleaning.

Every Hertz vehicle log book, located in the glove compartment, includes a detailed check list and the necessary documents.

In general:

  • Stay calm
  • Secure the accident site (turn on hazard lights, set up a warning triangle)
  • Remove injured persons from the danger zone and provide first aid (a first aid kit is located in the vehicle)
  • Call the police: 117

Ending your trip/Returns

Calculate how much additional time you will need and extend the reservation in time. If you are unable to do so, please immediately contact your rental agency or call the reservation centre at 0848 443 789.

Please note that fees will be charged for late returns.

An early-return can turn into a rate adaption whereby additional costs can occur. A refund is not possible.

If you did not previously extend the reservation and receive confirmation, you must return the vehicle as planned. Hertz will charge fees in the event of a delayed return.

We generally take care of cleaning the vehicle for you. We do ask that you dispose of waste, etc. yourself and, in particular, that you keep the cargo area in a well-kept state. In the event of excessive dirt/fouling, we reserve the right to charge an additional cleaning fee.

Petrol, diesel etc. are not included in your rate. We are happy to take care of refuelling, but please be aware that a separate service fee is charged per litre of petrol/diesel. The total costs will be listed on your invoice.

You can of course refuel the vehicle yourself, in which case we will not charge any further fees.

Payment

An invoice is created at the end of every rental. It is delivered in person by your Hertz agency or via e-mail.

(There may be exceptions for corporate clients).

What payment options are there?

  • Credit cards (American Express, MasterCard, Visa, AirPlus and Diners Club)
  • Cash at the Hertz agency (delivery and return only during opening hours)*

* Differences may exist between agencies. Please note that you are obliged to provide a deposit of CHF 500.00 when paying by cash.

(Alternative payment methods may apply for corporate clients with separate framework conditions.)

Vehicles

Yes, the C4 category comes equipped with a towing hitch. Please note the maximum permitted towing weight.

Hertz does not offer permanently-installed child seats in the vehicles. Organising a child seat infrastructure for children up to the age of four is not feasible, firstly for liability reasons (Hertz cannot accept responsibility for installation and proper condition) and for practical reasons (families with small children usually have their own child seat).

Since some passenger-side airbags in these vehicle categories cannot be manually deactivated, installing a child seat is prohibited for safety reasons.

All Hertz vehicles go through a winter check list: Winter tyres are installed, windscreen de-icer is topped up and scrapers as well as snow chains are placed in the vehicle.

Private client offer

We will contact you within two working days to let you know whether it/they has/have been found. This service costs CHF 50.00, regardless of whether the item has been found or not. Hertz will only inspect the vehicle you used. We will not contact any clients who used the vehicle after you.
